Dear Neighbor,

I’m running to represent Allen Park, Lincoln Park, Melvindale, and Southgate in Michigan's 2nd State House District. I was born and raised in Detroit’s Mexicantown, the son of a Vietnam-era veteran dad and a hard-working mom. I grew up in a family of tradespeople, union workers, and patriots who believed in service, sacrifice, and standing up when it mattered. Those values still guide me every single day.

I became the first in my family to graduate from college, earning my degree at Michigan State University, where I also served as president of Theta Chi Fraternity. When global conflicts escalated, I answered the call by serving in the U.S. Army National Guard — an experience that taught me discipline, resilience, and the power of service above self. Later, I built a career in logistics at DHL Supply Chain, managing complex operations that keep goods moving across our country. These experiences gave me both the perspective and the skills to fight for real results.

But the most important decision I ever made was choosing Downriver as home. My wife, Bridget, and I put down roots in Allen Park, raising our two boys, Gary Jr. and Frankie, right here. This isn’t just where I live — it’s where my children go to school, where we worship, and where we’re invested in the community’s future. That’s why I stepped up to serve on the Allen Park City Council, where I am now in my second term. I’ve earned a reputation for showing up, doing the homework, and speaking up when others stay silent. I’ve fought to strengthen local control, demand transparency, and protect public safety while delivering real results.

Like many people, I’ve made mistakes. One of mine was very public. I took responsibility. That experience taught me something simple: when you own up to mistakes, people respect you. That’s why voters trusted me with reelection the very same year.

Too many people go to Lansing for the perks. I’m going to work. Some bounce from office to office, chasing titles and benefits. That’s not public service — that’s self-interest. I already have a career, a family, and a record of results. I’m not running to cash in; I’m running to serve. Right now, Michigan families are tired of the same old politics that leave working people behind. That’s why I’m running. I won’t promise perfection. But I will always listen. I will always fight for you. And I will always serve — just as I have in uniform, on the council, and now in this campaign. Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and this campaign. I hope to earn your trust, your support, and most importantly, your partnership as we build a stronger, more honest, and hopeful Michigan.

With gratitude,
